The adventure begins......again.
There probably aren't many reading this who don't already know that we are the "lucky dogs" who get not one, but two assignments to beautiful Aviano AB, Italia. As of yesterday, Casey has officially reported for duty. The rest of us are anxiously waiting for the school year to end so we can get there too! When I was teaching, this was always a tough time of year to stay focused on school - I'll just say, the next 2 1/2 weeks are not going to be easy!
As with any PCS (move), there is always a ton to do, and overseas assignments get significantly harder. Medical clearances, passport and visa applications, multiple household goods shipments, travel arrangements, lodging reservations, waiting......, and to complicate matters, we decided our rental home in Eagar was overdue for a serious home improvement project that we wanted to accomplish before we lived across the ocean! This time around, I am also determined to learn Italian (Beyond the ability to order the right flavor of gelato), so Rosetta Stone and a about ten other apps are my friend. I am happy to report that I am well on the way to checking most of that off the list.
For this assignment, I want to record the experience more fully. I feel truly blessed to be getting a second chance to take in everything Italy has to offer. Feel free to follow along as we embark on this journey.
Now, fingers crossed that Casey finds a nice home for us to live in. No pressure, Casey.
